MACI (Maldives Association of Construction Industries) was established on 30th October 2001 by the seven founder members from the Major seven construction companies in Maldives. An Executive Board consisting 9 members are elected to organize and manage the Association. Maci is the official representative of the Maldivian construction industry with 46 members actively involving for the continuous improvement of the construction industry.

With all this effort MACI is committed to

• Ensuring that the needs of her members on industrial, contractual and technical matters are well looked after;

• Promoting and encouraging uniformity in the custom and practice of the construction industry;

• Improving the standards of the industry and enhancing the status of her members;

• Promoting the development of the industry;

• Participating in social and community services and projects.

For the past few year MACI have been highly active in executing the major barriers confronting the development of the industry. The areas which require immediate attention is the inefficient amount of labors in the industry. On the other hand different types of construction projects have been ongoing which require a huge amount of skilled labor for the industry. To overcome the problem as a necessary measure MACI had arrange with the government to provide quarter for expatriate labors to work in the industry for all the construction companies. Several Training programs have been conducted to produce enough labor for the industry. When the required amount of labor is generated expatriate labors would be minimized for an independent industry.

Works carried out by members of the Association represents more than 99% of the projects within the industry in Maldives These projects include housing, commercial buildings and government Buildings, Private Buildings, ,Resort projects, Modern Mosque construction , civil works, drainage and sewerage works and others.

The Council of Management, made up of professionals experienced in the field, is poised to lead the Association in positioning her members to compete effectively both in the local market and in the international arena.

In planning for the future, MACI will continue to keep maximum contribution for technical developments, monitor market changes and maintain the dialogues with government departments in order to provide her members with the confidence and develop strategies to continuously improve the industry to support all the associates and Members. MACI warmly welcomes any new members and is ready to extend to member contractors, Services and for what it all stand for.

 

Vision and Mission Statement
Vision

To create a 2020 Master plan by accomplishing the objectives outlined below.

1. Assistance and funding for code of conduct for MACI.
2. Integrate Members into the association from Male’ as well as outer islands.
3. Research and long-term Planning, documentation and administering for the implementation of the Master Plan.
4. Utilize the expertise of consultants and implement effective recommendations which would cost the association at least USD 300,000.00 roughly over three years.
5. Finance from international donor organisations are required to develop and sustain the construction industry throughout the country for a Long-term.


Mission Statement

To promote the continuous growth of the construction industry and lead our Members in fulfilling the Vision of MACI.

Objectives
The objective of MACI is to consolidate all related services in construction so as to develop and promote a structurally-sound and united industry. The Association aims to position its members to achieve greater professionalism and quality in the construction business.

MACI is committed to the following objectives for which it was established:
• To develop and strengthen the construction industry in the Maldives.

• To discuss issues and problems within the construction industry and to find ways to resolve such issues through discussion and dialogue within the members.

• To find ways to further strengthen the association by way of establishing mechanism to develop various skills of workers in the industry.

• To invite and involve all parties in the field of construction to participate in the association and share their views and opinions for the development of the industry as a whole.

• To promote means and measures to maintain and improve the standards of the building and engineering construction industry and to enhance the status of members there of with the general public and to ensure the general public fair and equitable treatment in dealing with the building and engineering construction industry and vice versa.
